Supporting LGBTQIA+ Teens

At Free to Be, we believe every teen deserves a place where they feel welcomed and understood. We support LGBTQIA+ teens by providing a safe environment, community connection and experiences that help start conversations and build friendships.

Our Journey So Far

Founded to serve the unique needs of queer teens, Free to Be has grown into a strong, supportive community since its inception, hosting monthly meetings and activities. We operate under the Upper Chesapeake  Pride Foundation, whose support enables us to thrive.

Why Free to Be Matters

Our monthly gatherings give teens a chance to meet others, take a break from day-to-day stress, and enjoy simple activities in a relaxed, supervised atmosphere. For many teens, having a place where they can breathe, laugh and connect with others makes a real difference. Whether someone attends regularly or drops in occasionally, they're welcome here.

Our Positive Impact

Each month, Free to Be welcomes young people who may arrive feeling unsure, curious, or quiet. Through shared experiences and community, they leave feeling more confident, connected, and supported. Our program provides LGBTQIA+ teens with a vital sense of belonging and a space where they know they are not alone.
